Baron Manfred Von Richthofen gained his nickname from the red painted Fokker DR1 triplane, in which he lost his life on 21st April, 1918, shot down by a Sopwith Camel from 209 Squadron RAF. Richthofen shot down more aircraft than any other pilot during World War 1, 80 in all. Markings – old style icon cross with white outline of Balkankreuz.
