Messerschmitt BF 109G-6/R6 Yellow 1 JG300
Flown by Lt Manfred Dieterle, Bonn-Hangelar, Germany, 1944. JG300 flew night fighting missions using ground radar for inteceptions. Called "Wilde Sau". The Wilde Sau units came into their own during the summer nights when Bomber Command returned to Berlin. With the onset of winter, losses rose dramatically; some elements of JG300 continued night operations. Most were transferred to day combat missions against the 8th USAAF.
